Sei — stillness
A quiet house woven from daylight and timber, bringing traditional Japanese aesthetics into modern life.
A two-storey house in a busy Tokyo neighbourhood, separated from the street by a low timber fence. At its centre is a small gravel courtyard with a single maple tree.
Tatami room
On the ground floor we designed a tatami room opening onto the courtyard through sliding shoji. Light filtered through paper keeps the room softly lit all day.
