Mono no aware — awareness of the moment
An engawa on the Aegean: a single-storey stone house with a deep timber veranda opening to olives and the sea.
We brought the engawa, the timber veranda between inside and outside in Japanese houses, to the Aegean. When the sliding panels open, the house opens entirely to the olive grove.
